  1. Guns & Hoses Golf Tournament

The Guns and Hoses Golf Tournament is one of the NCLFC’s two yearly fundraising events held at the Alta Sierra Country Club in June.  Players come from the community at large as well as from law enforcement and fire agencies.  A trophy is awarded yearly to whichever agency foursome scores best!  Participants compete in a putting contest and closest to the hole contest for cash prizes. A hole in one contest is sponsored by Auburn Ford with the grand prize being a Ford vehicle.  Something participants look forward to every year is the “Guns and Hoses” golf hat given to each player. Each golf cart is equipped with squirt guns so that everyone can get a little wet!  Buffet lunch and dinner are served with prizes awarded during dinner to the winners. A silent auction is held for many prizes which are generously donated by the local merchants and the community.

In another example of the Nevada County Law Enforcement & Fire Protection Council supporting local charities and community efforts, the NCLEFPC participated in the Keeping Kids Safe event held in Grass Valley on May 10, 2014 and attended by Marc Klaas, founder of the Polly Klaas Foundation.

The Gold Country Kiwanis hosted its 11th annual Keeping Kids Safe Festival at the Grass Valley Fire Department Station No. 2 on Sierra College Drive on Saturday, May 10th. The purpose of the festival was to provide a chance for the public and law enforcement and fire agencies to get together.
